The Charlotte Speed challenge teams are a division Charlotte United Futbol Club as of May 2004. CUFC coaches and trainers will conduct the tryouts and operate all of the Charlotte United Speed teams. Charlotte Junior Soccer Foundation, Inc. will continue to provide recreation programs for the central Charlotte area.

History: In 1999, CJSF, Inc., expanded its programs to include the Charlotte Speed Challenge teams, playing U-10 through U-14, boys and girls. Open tryouts for challenge teams give the interested players an opportunity to play competitive soccer and participate in tournaments. Speed teams have won both State and City championships. In May of 2004, the Charlotte Speed affiliated with Charlotte United Futbol Club. All teams participate in the Charlotte Area Youth Soccer League, a division of the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association.
